Spectra Submission for Upload

FOLLOW THESE 3 STEPS TO SUBMIT SPECTRA FOR UPLOAD TO WISeREP:

1. Create a tarball of all relevant ascii (and preferably also FITS) files of the spectra; name it e.g. spectra4wiserep_from_john_20110814.tar.gz
* NOTE * The uploaded spectra should be fully reduced (WL and flux calibrated) but non-manipulated; i.e. NOT de-redshifted, de-reddened etc...
2. Prepare a meta-data list that will contain the required info for all relevant spectra:
Download this spreadsheet and fill in all columns following the two header lines. Examples are shown in the 2nd & 3rd sheets.
Alternatively, download this tab-delimited text file and add rows following (i.e. without deleting) the two header lines. Make sure that the columns are TAB delimited; ONE tab only between columns.
3. Send the above tarball/s and the accompanying meta-data list (spreadsheet or text file) by email to: wiserep@weizmann.ac.il

Please note the following for preparation of the meta-data list:

- Check that the no. of files specified in the list (ascii/fits/related-files) exactly match the no. of files archived in the tarball.
- Make sure that the filenames as stated in the list (2nd,3rd,last-two columns) are identical to the physical filenames.
- Clearly, the columns: objname, asciifile, obsdate must be filled in and correct.
- Shown in the 2nd header-line between [ ] are the inputs that should be applied if values are unknown or not necessary.
- If the object already exists in the system, no need to supply the object details (specify NULL in all object columns).
- If the object doesn't exist yet in the system (or if there's a doubt), provide as many object details as possible (Obj-RA, Obj-DEC, Type, Redshift...).
- Valid RA/DEC formats are - RA: hh:mm:ss.x OR dd.x; DEC: dd:am:as.x or dd.x (dd=deg, am=arcmin, as=arcsec).
- Obtain the Instrument-Id from the system (Instruments page).
If the instrument is unknown set instid=NULL.
If known but doesn't exist in the system write instead of the Id the tel+inst names (free text).
- Obtain the Obj-type-Id from the system (Object Types page).
If type of the object is still unknown, set objtypeid=NULL.
If known but doesn't exist in system write instead of the ID the objtype name (e.g. SN IIPn).
- Quality can be left NULL, or contain any of the values: Rapid, Final, Low, Med, High.
- The default for Spec-Type is Object. Valid values are: Object, Host, Sky, Arcs, Synthetic.
- If additional details can be supplied, please specify those in the Spec-Remarks column.
- Related-file1+2 may be files of any type (ascii,fits,graphical...), to be associated with the corresponding spectrum (e.g. 2D-fits, plots etc...).
